Buy the Men’s Bernard Coat sewing pattern from Vikisews. Bernard is a men’s semi-fitted double-breasted coat with a straight silhouette. The coat is designed to be worn in between seasons. The tailored fit is achieved by the side panels with princess seams on the front and back, and the centre back seam. The front features two bottom welt pockets and a chest welt pocket on the left side. Long, set-in, two-piece sleeves have faux vents with three buttons on each. The jacket collar with a collar stand is paired with long lapels folded down to the waistline. The coat fastens with two buttons and buttonholes. The centre back seam has a vent. The coat is fully lined and is below-the-knee length.

Suggested fabrics: Wool coating, cashmere, synthetic coating fabrics.

For the lining, the designer recommends artificial fibres (viscose), blends (viscose + elastane, viscose + polyester) or synthetic (polyester, polyester + elastane).

The garment in the photos is made of a wool coating fabric. This fabric is heavyweight and non-stretch. The fibre content is a blend of wool and cashmere. The fibre content of the lining is a blend of viscose and polyester.

Fabric requirements: When purchasing fabric, buy 5% more than required to account for shrinkage.

Main: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric, with a directional print/nap: 2.7 – 3.05 m (3 – 3 3/8 yd) // 150 cm (59″) wide fabric, with a directional print/nap: 2.65 – 3.0 m (2 7/8 – 3 1/4 yd).

Lining: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 2.3 – 2.8 m (2 1/2 – 3 yd).

Sizing: Men’s 38 – 54. Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

The PDF pattern includes 4 height options:

Height 1 = 170 – 176 cm (5’7″ – 5’9″)
Height 2 = 178 – 184 cm (5’10” – 6′)
Height 3 = 186 – 192 cm (6’1″ – 6’3″)
Height 4 = 194 – 200 cm (6’4″ – 6’7″)
