WISJ Designs Men's and Women's Joey Shorts

Buy the Men's and Women's Joey Shorts sewing pattern from WISJ Designs. Joey is a versatile his and hers shorts pattern. Two patterns in one, with different pattern pieces for the men’s and women’s versions.

The version with bias tape is the track shorts version. Think of the shorts you wore as a kid, but in adult size. The men’s version extends to the knee, and the women’s version is quite short. Perfect sports shorts.

The classic version for men can still be made in a sporty fabric, but also works in a stiffer fabric for a more dressy look. The classic version for women has two lengths. The short version can be made in a jeans fabric, but also in regular cotton or French terry. The long version works perfectly with a thin fabric draping it over the hips.

There are options for front pockets, patch pockets at the back, and a drawstring and eyelets in the waistband.

Note: In the A0 version, pattern pieces overlap. If you choose copy shop printing, we will send you extra copies of the pattern sheets so you do not need to trace.

Suggested fabrics: 

For the track shorts version, a stretchy fabric such as jersey, French terry.

For the men's classic version, stretch fabric, or a stiffer fabric such as linen, cotton, denim, canvas.

For the women's classic version, stiffer fabrics for the short version (think short jeans shorts) or flowy fabrics for the long version (here it is crucial that the fabric drapes nicely). These shorts can be made in both stretch (tricot, French terry) and non-stretch fabrics (linen, cotton, viscose, tencel).

Fabric requirements: 140 cm wide fabric: Men, 150 cm // Women, 120 cm.

Sizing: Men's XS – 4XL / EU 44 – 58 and Women's XS - 4XL / EU 34 - 48 (approx. UK 8 - 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart.

Notions: 4 cm wide elastic for the waist // Track shorts: bias tape for the side seam and hem // Optional: drawstring for waistband and 2 eyelets (max. 1 cm diameter).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4 print-at-home pattern (33 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
