Buy the M8460 Christening gown, Romper and Bonnet sewing pattern from McCalls. It’s perfect for an advanced beginner/intermediate dressmaker. Gowns A, B, C, D have lined bodice with back button closure, short sleeves with trim and, overlay variations. Rompers E, F, in two lengths, have lined bodice, short sleeves, collar, back button closure and snap crotch. Lined bonnet for all views is also included.

Suggested fabrics: Broadcloth, faille, lightweight satin, linen. Gown A,B,C,D also in batiste, damask, handkerchief linen. Bodice and bonnet overlay, overskirt and sleeves C: Single-edged scalloped organdy or chiffon. Bodice and bonnet overlay, overskirt and sleeves D: Dotted swiss, organdy, organza. Bodice and bonnet lining A,B,C,D,E,F: and Vest lining F: Cotton, cotton blends. Interfacing: Lightweight fusible.

Note: Extra fabric maybe needed to match plaids, stripes, one-way designs fabrics or shrinkage.

Sizing: A (XS/S/M/L), which is approx. UK sizes (1-3/6/12/18 months) based on our standardised size chart. Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread. Gown A,B,C,D: Three 1/2″ (1.3cm) buttons. Bonnet A,B,C,D,E,F: 1/8 yd. (0.2m) of 1/4″ (6mm) elastic, 1 yd. (1.0m) of 3/8″ (1cm) ribbon. Gown and Bonnet A: 3 yds. (2.8m) of 1″ – 1 1/8″ (2.5 – 3cm) Scalloped edging, three appliques (size and shape as desired). Gown and Bonnet B: 3 1/2 yds. (3.2m) of 1 1/2″ – 2 1/2″ (4cm – 6cm) single edged lace trim, 1 5/8 yds. (1.5m) of 3″ – 4″ (8cm – 10cm) pre-gathered lace trim, approx. twenty rosettes or as desired, 6 1/8 yds. (5.9m) of 3/8″ (1cm) ribbon. Gown and Bonnet C: 1/4 yd. (0.7m) of 11/2″ – 2″ (4cm – 5cm) sheer pre-gathered scalloped trim, two rosettes. Gown and Bonnet D: 3 1/2 yds. (3.2m) of 1 1/2″ – 2 1/2″ (4cm – 6cm) venice lace, 3 1/2 yds. (3.2m) of 5/8″ (1.5cm) novelty beaded ribbon trim, 2 1/8 yds. (2.0m) of 5/8″ _ 7/8″ (1.5cm – 2.2cm) crochet-type lace trim. Romper E: nine 1/2″ (1.3cm) buttons, 1 1/4 yds.
