Buy the Karlie Swimsuit sewing pattern from Madalynne. Karlie is a 3-in-1 swimwear style in an inclusive size range, designed to end the days of squeezing into uncomfortable swimsuits!
View A is a long sleeve rash guard with a scoop neck and built-in shelf bra. The neckline is finished with rubber elastic and the sleeves and bottom hem are finished with self bands.
View B is a string bikini finished with fold over and rubber elastic.
View C is a one piece with a scoop neck and built-in shelf bra. The back is inspired by Speedo’s iconic design.

Suggested fabrics:
MAIN FABRIC: Fabric for all pieces. Pattern was designed to be made with fabrics that have 8-20% spandex. Recommended fabrics include lycra that is appropriate for swimwear.
LINING FABRIC: Fabric for lining Front Bodice and Back Bodice of View A (rash guard) and all pieces of View B (bikini) and View C (one piece). Also fabric for shelf bra. Pattern was designed to be lined with stretch mesh or Helenca (swimwear lining). If you are full busted (D+ cup), recommended to use power net for shelf bra.
Fabric requirements:
Bikini top (main + lining): XS-L, 1/4 yd (0.2 m) // XL-5X, 1/3 yd (0.3 m).
Bikini bottom (main + lining): XS-L, 1/4 yd (0.2 m) // XL-5X, 1/3 yd (0.3 m).
Rash guard (main + lining): XS-L, 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m) // XL-5X, 1 5/8 yd (1.5 m)
One piece (main + lining): XS-L, 1 1/4 yd (1.2 m) // XL-5X, 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m).
Sizing: XS – 5X (approx. UK 8 – 30, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart.
Notions: Sewing machine with straight, lightning, and zig zag stitches; polyester thread; microtex or stretch needle (size depends on fabric); rubber elastic for finishing neckline on View A and all edges on View C (optional for View B), 1/4″-3/8″ wide // View B only: fold over elastic for finishing edges, 3/8″ (when folded) for sizes XS-M or 3/4″ (when folded) for sizes L-5X; twill tape for stabilising string ties (optional) // Optional for all views: 28 mm rotary cutter; spray adhesive.
