Buy the Hebe Project Bag sewing pattern from Lasenby Patterns. Hebe is a versatile tote for your knitting and crochet projects. There are two sizes and two handle lengths to choose from. The small bag is perfect for a coffee shop knit morning, and the large bag is ideal to take away on holiday. Hebe can also be used at home as a basket, with the top edge turned down.

Hebe has lots of customisable pockets inside for needles, circular needles, hooks and tools, as well as your phone and notebook. There are loops for a scissors keeper and yarn feed. A double drawstring closure gently squeezes in your yarn (no zip for your yarn to get caught up in).

Note: This pattern is also available with a sashiko embroidery design here.

The end result is ok, but…

- the fabric quantities are bizarrely generous
- the interlining fabric is never mentioned after you cut it out, except for the handles
- the handles are only 2cm wide, even for the large bag! Because of the aforementioned generous fabric quantities I was able to cut wider straps and I’m very glad I did
- the pattern is illustrated with photos rather than hand-drawn illustrations, which makes it less clear
- it reads as if it’s the designer’s first pattern, with lots of detail in some places and less in others
- you’re instructed to sew almost every seam twice, without mention of stitch options you might have on your sewing machine that would be a suitable replacement for this tedious process
