Buy the Lagan Coat sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. The Lagan is a fully lined, knee-length winter coat. Its classic, elegant style is suited to everyday wear as well as more formal events, making it the perfect coat for the entire season. This single-breasted coat features shoulder yokes, a waistband, a standard collar with a collar stand, two-piece sleeves, in-seam side pockets and five centred buttons. Lagan also has front and back princess seams and cup size options for a great fit!

If ordering a copy shop pattern, please choose from the following options: sizes 00-20 with an A cup, sizes 00-20 with a B cup, sizes 00-20 with a C cup, sizes 00-20 with a D cup, sizes 00-20 with a DD cup, sizes 16-40 with a B cup, sizes 16-40 with a C cup, sizes 16-40 with a D cup, sizes 16-40 with a DD cup.

Suggested fabrics: 

Primary fabric: Coating fabric such as woollen, boiled wool, non-stretch fleece and gabardine.

Lining: Viscose lining, acetate lining, cupro, Bemberg lining, silk habotai, satin.

Interfacing A: Lightweight woven or weft-insertion fusible interfacing.

Interfacing B: Lightweight knit tricot fusible interfacing.

Back stay fabric: Stable woven fabric such as muslin or quilting cotton. This piece will not be visible in the final garment so colour matching is not necessary.

Sleeve head fabric: Felt or woollen. You can also use the primary fabric. This piece will not be visible in the final garment so colour matching is not necessary.

Fabric requirements: 

Primary fabric: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 2 7/8 – 4 1/4 yd (260 – 390 cm).

Lining: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 2 – 3 1/4 yd (180 – 300 cm).

Interfacing A: 20″ (50 cm) wide: 3 – 4 3/8 yd (270 – 390 cm).

Interfacing B: 20″ (50 cm) wide: 1 yd (100 cm).

Back stay fabric: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 3/8 – 1/2 yd (30 – 50 cm).

Sleeve head fabric: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1/4 yd (20 – 30 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 40 (approx. UK 6/8 – 34/36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Sizes 00-20 have A, B, C, D and DD cups. Sizes 22-40 have B, C, D and DD cups.

A note from the designer about bust cup options: To determine your cup size, subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.

Notions: Five 7/8″ (2.2 cm) coat buttons (shank or non-shank); 26″ (66 cm) of 3/8″ or 1/2″ (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain); a set of very thin shoulder pads for set-in sleeves.
