Buy the Willa Wrap Coat Hood Expansion Pack sewing pattern from Jennifer Lauren Handmade. Expand the possibilities of your Willa Wrap Coat pattern by adding the cosy comfort and practicality of a hood, keeping you safe and dry in all the weather the seasons can throw at you. Inspired by the wide, deep, draped hoods commonly seen on coats and ponchos of the 40s and 50s, this hood balances chic design with practicality. Wear it completely buttoned up, partially done up (with that dramatic, sweeping collar) or totally open. You can now wear your Willa Wrap Coat on windy days and wet evenings, knowing you’ll be comfortable and dry and your hairstyle won’t get ruined!

Note: This is not a complete pattern. You must already own the original Willa Wrap Coat pattern to use this expansion pack. If you have not yet purchased the original pattern, you can do so here.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Mid-weight woven fabrics with body and some drape. Melton, boucle, herringbone and tweed, suitings, corduroy and light quilted fabrics. For extra protection against the elements, you may also consider using a water-proofed outer fabric. The lining should be light weight — cotton voile or lawn, rayon, polyester or silk linings work best to keep bulky seams to a minimum.

Fabric requirements: Extra may be required for pattern/print matching and/or adding length.

Main: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 4.25 - 6.5 m (4.64 - 7.10 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 3.25 - 4.25 m (3.55 - 4.64 yd) // Note for sizes 26 – 34 in 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: Not suitable for fabric with obvious directional print/nap/texture due to belt length and how this is positioned on the fabric.

Lining: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.25 - 3.25 m (2.46 - 3.55 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.75 - 2.5 m (1.91 - 2.73 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 24 with A/B and C/D cups or UK 16 – 34 with C/D and E/F cups. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Note: There is a crossover of 2 cups (C and D) and 5 sizes (16 – 24) between the Original and Curve size ranges. The Original and Curve patterns are based on two different blocks, and because of this, the shape, ease and proportions of the crossover patterns vary depending on the block used. Please check both size charts if you fall into this range.

To determine your cup size, wear supportive undergarments, then keeping your tape measure parallel to the floor (make sure it is not dipping at the back), measure both your full bust (the widest part of your bust, all the way around) and your high bust (the upper part of your bust around and under the arm pits). Use the difference between these measurements to determine your approximate cup size: A cup = 1 cm (3/8″), B cup = 3 cm (1 1/4″), C cup = 5 cm (2″), D cup = 7.5 cm (3″), E cup = 10 cm (4″), F cup = 12.5 cm (4 7/8″). Then, to determine your bodice size, find your full bust measurement (or closest to) along your corresponding cup row on the size chart.

Notions: Light- to mid-weight fusible interfacing; matching and/or contrast thread // Optional: two 2 cm (3/4″) wide buttons (or snap buttons). Some sort of fastening is required to make the funnel-neck style.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (65 pages for sizes 6-24, 67 pages for sizes 16-34, but you only need to print the pages for your cup size); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets for sizes 6-24, 4 sheets for sizes 16-34, but you only need to print the sheets for your cup size) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
