Buy the Sovana Dress sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. The Sovana is an understated, elegant knit dress with long sleeves, a fitted bodice, and an A-line midi skirt with optional in-seam pockets. It has a V neck front that extends to wrap around the back of the neck. It has regular bust and full bust options for the perfect fit (with front waist darts on the full bust bodice). The Sovana is a timeless dress ready for many occasions!

If ordering a copy shop pattern, please choose from the following options: sizes 00-20 (includes both bust options), sizes 16-40 with a regular bust, sizes 16-40 with a full bust.

Suggested fabrics: Use medium-weight knit fabric with good recovery, and with 50% horizontal stretch, such as viscose French terry, double-brushed poly, cotton spandex jersey and poly spandex jersey.

Fabric requirements: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 2 1/4 – 3 5/8 yd (200 – 330 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 40 with regular and full bust options (approx. UK 6/8 – 34/36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

A note from the designer about bust options: To determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full bust front pieces, subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3″ (7.5 cm) or less, use the regular bust. If the rounded difference is more than 3″ (7.5 cm), use the full bust.

Notions: Lightweight knit or tricot fusible interfacing; 3/8″ or 1/2″ (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain), 14″ (36 cm) for the shoulders + 28″ (71 cm) for the optional in-seam pockets // Optional: 1/4″ or 3/8″ (6 mm or 1 cm) clear elastic as long as your waist.
