Buy the 224 Beautiful Dreamer sewing pattern from Folkwear. The inspiration for this delightfully feminine nightgown can be found in the 1902 edition of the Sears catalogue, the couturier of rural America.

View A has a ruffled neckline and is cut just below the knee. View B features a wide triangular ruffled collar and is the traditional ankle-length.

Both views are full and flowing, with three deep box pleats in the back, and the front gathered into a gently rounded, ruffled bodice yoke. Side seam godets add a slight flare. The gown is closely fitted to the upper body with a deep buttoned opening at the left front (which can be omitted). Long puffed sleeves are finished with slip-over wristbands and ruffles that fall gracefully over the hands.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces are divided across two A0 sheets. The A0 sheets will need to be joined with no overlap.

Suggested fabrics: Light or medium weight cottons, linens, rayons, silks, and blends such as lawn, dotted Swiss, gauze, voile, muslin, challis, broadcloth or flannel.

Fabric requirements: All requirements are for fabric without nap, pile, or one-way design.

View A: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes XS-2XL only): 5 1/4 – 5 1/2 yd (4.8 – 5 m) // 60″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 3 1/4 – 4 1/4 yd (3 – 3.9 m).

View B: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes XS-2XL only): 6 1/4 – 6 7/8 yd (5.7 – 6.3 m) // 60″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 5 – 5 1/2 yd (4.6 – 5 m).

Sizing: XS – 3XL (approx. UK 4/6 – 28/30, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Six 3/8″ (1 cm buttons). If you wish to use purchased 1″-2″ (2.54 cm-5 cm) wide flat lace instead of the self-fabric ruffles, you will need 3 7/8 yd (3.55 m) for View A or 4 3/8 yd (4.01 m) for View B. Fabric yardage will not change.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (66 pages); 36″ wide copy shop pattern (2 sheets); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
