Buy the Josephine Dress sewing pattern from Fibre Mood. This ultra-feminine dress has a jewel neck with a V-shaped keyhole finished with bias tape. The back fastens with a button. Josephine’s elegant bishop sleeves taper at the end with narrow barrel cuffs. And this dress is a hacker ’s dream. Just imagine the options... a dress with a gathered top, waist seam, and long, flared skirt, optionally tightened at the waist with a belt. Or you could make a classic blouse, or even lengthen it into a relaxed tunic, again with or without a belt.

Suggested fabrics: The sky's the limit. Josephine looks a treat in soft drape fabrics, such as viscose (crepe), polyester (crepe), lyocell, seersucker, double gauze, crepon, and broderie anglaise. But it also looks just as lovely in fabrics with more body such as poplin.

I just adore this fibremood Josephine dress!

I was searching for the perfect autumn/ winter dress to layer up with boots and a cardigan,  and this pattern ticks all the boxes.
The dress has raglan sleeves which are gathered in at the cuff to make a bishop sleeve. The cuff  is luxuriously deep and gives a really elegant finish with the tiny button detail.
I love the cinched in waist and the flattering long skirt- it has a vintage tea dress feel about it.
I made a size extra small based on my full bust measurements and the fit is spot on. I may grade out ever so slightly at the hips next time so that the skirt doesn’t cling when worn with tights!

the instructions were easy to follow and the sizing was accurate for me.

I can definitely see this becoming a wardrobe staple and I’m imagining making a shorter version next.

Josephine Blose and Dress

The Josephine is a great pattern, (one of many from Fibremood 21) it comes as a Top/Blouse which I made here, and also two dress versions, one is literally the top extended to dress length and the second with a fitted skirt having a side zip which imparts a really flattering fit.

I chose to make my top in a really lovely Viscose Challis. My real driver was to check the fit before moving onto the dress, but I know I'll get tons of wear from the top, it's so versatile, and can be worn both smart with some nice trousers or skirt or dressed down with some jeans for a more casual look.

I think my favourite feature is the little V-cut-out at the neckline, so flattering as it just breaks up the expanse of the bodice. But yet, its high enough to be still warm and respectable (for work). The other really cool feature is the lengthened cuff which closes with 4 buttons, very stylish!!

I really hope you like my Josephine I do, and I hope it inspires you to make one of your own!
