Buy the Causeway Bomber Jacket sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. The Causeway can be made from a variety of fabrics, from lightweight nylon to mid-weight embroidered cotton, so you can select one that matches your personal style. The bomber is traditionally a short jacket with a ribbed collar, waistband and cuffs. The Causeway adds a touch of femininity with front princess seams that also give you a great fit in the bust. The optional invisibly zipped pockets are embedded in the princess seams for a streamlined look. It has slightly dropped shoulders with long two-piece sleeves and a centre front exposed zipper. And you have the option to make the jacket reversible!

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

If ordering a copy shop pattern, please choose from the following options: sizes 00-20 with A and B cups, sizes 00-20 with C and D cups, sizes 00-20 with a DD cup, sizes 16-40 with a B cup, sizes 16-40 with a C cup, sizes 16-40 with a D cup, sizes 16-40 with a DD cup.

Suggested fabrics:

Fabric A: This is for the primary side of the jacket. The ideal fabric is lightweight to medium weight woven fabric without stretch. Nylon, cotton, rayon twill, crepe are good choices. Lightweight to medium weight woven fabric with a little stretch or a stable knit fabric such as a lightweight fleece is also acceptable but it will result in a more relaxed garment.

Fabric B: This is for the reverse side of the jacket. You can use similar fabric as Fabric A. If you choose to not make the jacket reversible, Fabric B should be a lining fabric such as Bemberg lining, lawn, batiste, lightweight woven fabric, silk, satin or other polyester lining.

Fabric C (ribbing): Pre-made ribbing cuff can be used although it must be at least 7″ (18 cm) in length and you will have to piece the cuffs together to accommodate the width. A stable interlock fabric with good recovery is also acceptable.

Lining: This lining fabric is used for the pocket bags. Use a lightweight woven fabric. Bemberg lining, lawn, batiste or other polyester lining are good choices.

Fabric requirements:

Fabric A: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 1 3/8 – 2 1/8 yd (130 – 190 cm).

Fabric B: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 1 3/8 – 2 1/8 yd (130 – 190 cm).

Fabric C (ribbing): 27″ (68 cm) wide fabric: 7/8 – 1 3/8 yd (70 – 130 cm).

Pocket lining (per each set of pockets): 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 3/8 yd (30 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 40 (approx. UK 6/8 – 34/36). Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Sizes 00-20 have A, B, C, D and DD cups. Sizes 22-40 have B, C, D and DD cups.

A note from the designer about bust cup options: To determine your cup size, subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 1″ (2.5 cm), use A cup; 2″ (5 cm), use B cup; 3″ (7.5 cm), use C cup; 4″ (10 cm), use D cup; 5″ (12.5 cm), use DD cup.

Notions: Lightweight woven fusible interfacing; open-end jacket zipper (use a reversible zipper if you choose to make your jacket reversible, otherwise use a regular single-sided one); one set of zipper top stops for the open-end jacket zipper (optional); two 7″ (18 cm) or longer invisible zippers for each set of pockets you decide to make; 3/8″ or 1/2″ (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain), 26″ (66 cm) for each set of pockets you choose to make and 18″ (46 cm) for the shoulders.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (64 pages for sizes 00-20, 71 pages for sizes 16-40, but you only need to print the pages for your size and bust cup); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets for sizes 00-20, 6 sheets for sizes 16-40, but you only need to print the sheets for your size and bust cup) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
