Buy the Barra Button Back Top sewing pattern from Greyfriars and Grace. This pattern features the environmentally friendly option to use an existing shirt!

The Barra Button Back Top is a fitted shape and can be made without sleeves or with cute half sleeves using the cuffs of an existing shirt. It has an option to add a ruffle – got to love a ruffle! You also have the option to use the button strip from an existing shirt (so no buttonholes to make!).

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Cotton, linen or cotton/linen blend work best.

Fabric requirements: Fabric requirements are for non-directional prints. If you need to pattern match, you may need more fabric.

45″ (110 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/2 yd (1.5 m) // 54″ (140 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/2 yd (1.5 m) // 60″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 1 yd (1 m).

A large adult shirt if using an existing shirt. Note sizes over L (UK 14) may need an XXL (18″/19″ collar) or larger non-fitted shirt.

Sizing: XS – XXXL / UK 8 – 20. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 6 buttons if creating your own button strip (or button strip from an existing shirt); 1″ (2.5 cm) wide bias binding, approx. 2 1/2 yd (2.25 m) – this can be shop bought or you can make your own using your top fabric or the sleeves of an existing shirt (instructions included).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (12 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet).
