Buy the Baby/Child Free Range Fun Over-Trousers sewing pattern from Waves & Wild. These over-trousers are perfect for protecting your little ones when playing outside, whatever the weather! You can choose between trousers or dungarees/salopettes, and they can be lined or unlined. They can have straight legs, snap legs or elasticated legs (with optional stirrups).

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Main fabric: Any light/medium weight, hardwearing fabric. If you would like your over-trousers to be water resistant, then choose a water resistant fabric. Good choices include PUL, soft-shell and ripstop. No stretch is required, but fabric with a little stretch can be used. Lining: Light/medium weight, warm fabric such as micro-fleece.

Fabric requirements: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: Trousers, 60 – 200 cm (5/8 – 2 1/4 yd) // Dungarees/salopettes, 70 – 220 cm (3/4- 2 1/2 yd).

The fabric requirements are for the unlined options. For the lined options, you need the above amounts in both outer and inner fabrics.

Sizing: 6-12 months – 12 years. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Trousers: Waist elastic, 20 mm (¾”) elastic for up to age 1, 25 mm (1″) elastic for ages 2-5, 30 mm (1 ¼”) elastic for ages 6-12 // Dungarees/salopettes: Strap elastic, 25 mm (1″) strong elastic for up to age 1, 30 mm (1 ¼”) strong elastic for ages 2-5, 40 mm (1 ½”) strong elastic for ages 6-12 (it is possible to use webbing/tape instead of elastic, but the straps won’t have the same ‘give’ as elastic); buckles and sliders (2 of each), 25 mm (1″) for up to age 1, 30 mm (1 ¼”) for ages 2-5, 40 mm (1 ½”) for ages 6-12 // Elastic leg bottoms: 12 mm (½”) elastic for up to age 5, 20 mm (¾”) elastic for ages 6-12 // Elastic stirrups: 20 mm (¾”) elastic // Snap leg bottoms: Two size 20 KAM snaps or similar; scrap of medium/heavy interfacing or woven fabric.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/legal/letter print-at-home pattern (24 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets); projector pattern. This pattern has layers so you can print just the sizes(s) you need.
