Buy the Baby/Child/Adult Jua Cap sewing pattern from WISJ Designs. Actually something between a sun hat and a cap, Jua has four panels resembling a sun hat, but it also has a visor and an elastic strap at the back. Jua means ‘sun’ in Swahili. A more summery pattern is almost impossible. Oh, and Jua is reversible because it is fully lined and therefore just as nicely finished on the inside as it is on the outside.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following format:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

Suggested fabrics: With good reinforcement (H250 interfacing for the panels and decovil light for the brim) you can use any cotton. A solid canvas as the main fabric gives the best result though.

Fabric requirements: This is really a project for ‘fabric leftovers’. You can sew the adult sizes with a length of 25 cm, and the children’s sizes with a length of 20 cm. Be sure to search your leftovers before buying new fabric!

Sizing: 3 months – adult M (41 – 58 cm head circumference).

Notions: Interfacing (H250 and decovil light); 5 mm wide elastic.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4 print-at-home pattern (1 page) // A0 copy shop pattern: No // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.

Note: This pattern does not include seam allowances.
