Tello Jacket

Tello Jacket from Pauline Alice, described as a jacket with many pockets (it has 4, 1 zipped chest pocket, 1 small open chest pocket and two large open hip pockets). Fabric requirement is 1.9m 140cm wide. The jacket is unlined and I decided to try a hong kong seam for the interior for which 9m of bias tape is required (it wasn’t enough, I didn’t waste so much as a centimetre and I was about 30cm short) . I made a size 42 according to my measurements and this turned out to be a good fit although I would remark that it’s not that roomy, ok to wear over a t-shirt or shirt but not a jumper. The instructions on the whole are excellent, very clear with accurate illustrations of the steps required. Except, if you want your zipped pocket lining fabric to show on the inside, as I did, you need to cut two pattern pieces from the fabric the same way round rather than on folded fabric as shown in the cutting layout, otherwise the reverse of your fabric shows on the inside. There is no requirement for interfacing on any of the parts and as I wanted to use buttons and make buttonholes I interfaced the facings for strength which I would recommend. There is A LOT of topstitching which, if you don’t have twin needle (I don’t) makes you go a bit crosseyed after a while. You can use snaps or buttons for the front closure and I chose metal flower buttons to lighten the utilitarian look of the jacket. I’m very pleased with the finished result and would make again.
