SEYMOUR JACKET

Ok, this has to be one of my favorite jacket patterns and I have made 4, 1 for myself and 3 for friends and I have some more fabric to make one other version for me! This is an intermediate pattern and I’ll tell you now, if you are considering trying this you either need to be on point with your welt pockets or start practicing. I’d never done them before and had to try and muddle through the instructions but that’s my own fault as i was too lazy to look up how to do them properly and these were the only thing that let my finished version down. Apart from the welt pockets the rest of the instructions were clear and this comes up as a really nice over-sized casual jacket. I’ve gone against the fabric suggestions and used Barbour style wax cotton (<3) with an African wax print lining. The wax cotton was interesting to work with, really stiff but becomes more malleable as you work but it looks amazing in this pattern especially as it gets beaten in. You can tell from the pictures where is was still fresh and new and where it has been weather beaten and worn. I just love the fit of this jacket and all the elements of the pattern that go into making it.

(you can get the most gorgeous Barbour style waxed cotton from stonefabrics.co.uk – if they still have any!)
