ROMANTIC BLOUSE SEWING PATTERNS FOR YOUR SPRING WARDROBE

ROMANTIC BLOUSE SEWING PATTERNS FOR YOUR SPRING WARDROBE
Kate Underdown

Blouses are probably one of my favourite things to sew. They slot into your wardrobe so easily and can be styled in lots of different ways. From date nights to casual Saturday strolls, they make you feel put together. Romantic blouses seem to be popping up a lot in the sewing world. The flowy sleeves and delicate details on these beautiful designs seem to evoke the hopefulness of spring, motivating me to swap my jumpers for something a little more dainty. If you want to add a little romantic flair to your spring wardrobe, I’ve rounded up some seriously beautiful blouse sewing patterns for you to browse…

Tilly and the Buttons Marnie Blouse and Mini Dress  the magic technique one

The Marnie Blouse is just about as romantic as a blouse gets. It combines a breezy smock style with beautiful full-length bishop sleeves and optional ruffles to up the romance factor. If you want to try your hand at a very clever technique, you can make Marnie with dreamy undulating tucks on the front yoke and sleeves. You won’t believe how straightforward creating the tucks is. Nothing short of sewing magic!

Vikisews Liza Blouse  the one with all the details

The Liza Blouse packs a lot of details – and techniques – into one pattern. It evokes 19th-century poet vibes. The design details will capture your heart. From front and back yokes that finish with a pintuck at the bottom edge to the gathers peeking out from underneath the yoke. The delicate rouleau loops and pintucks will take your sewing to the next level, and the finished result will be so worth the effort!

The Maker’s Atelier Tiered Blouse  the floaty one

The Tiered Blouse is a feminine and fluid blouse with tiered or simple flared body with a round or V-neck. Make it in fluid fabrics for the ultimate floaty number, or go for cotton lawn to show the structure off. I reckon it would look great under a pair of dungarees to balance out the floaty shape.

Sizing:  UK 4 – 20

Maison Fauve Tribeca Dress and Blouse – the chic one

The French sewing pattern company, Maison Fauve is known for delightful details, and Tribeca is no exception. If you like the idea of a romantic blouse but don’t want something too voluminous, this blouse is slightly fitted, for a feminine and comfortable drape. The optional decorative bias highlights the yoke band and is a stunning detail that will grow your sewing skills!

Fibre Mood Rhonda Top  the cleverly cut one

Streamlined with a romantic feel, the Rhonda Top is a little bit of pattern magic. The long panels at the front and back are highlighted by the shorter side panels. This clever pattern cutting allows for playful fabric usage, perhaps contrasting fabric for the side panels. Kate loves this one!

Pattern Scout Poppy Blouse – the everyday one

If you want to add a bit of romance to your everyday outfits, the Poppy Blouse would be my pick! The raglan peasant-style blouse has bishop sleeves, a ruffle collar, and optional ruffle hem. You can leave the neck tie open for a relaxed look, or tie it in a pretty bow for a delicate finish to your outfit. The silhouette is perfect for light, airy fabrics with a fluid drape.

Itch to Stitch Azores Top and Dress – the shirred one

Have you tried shirring? It’s a sewing technique that uses elastic thread in the bobbin to create a gathered, stretchy finish to the fabric. It’s magic! The Azores Top is a great opportunity to give it a go as it features a splash of shirring at the waist and wrists. Designed for soft and flowy woven fabric, it has a voluminous shape and cup size options will help you achieve the perfect fit.

Closet Core Patterns Nicks Dress and Blouse  the delicate one

We fell for the Nicks pattern the moment we saw it… and so did Foldliners! It has soft gathering and delicate details, such as the slightly puffed sleeves and dainty rouleau button loops. You can make the blouse version as a voluminous swing tunic with a gathered hip tier or an elegant blouse with a faced neckline. Perfect for your spring wardrobe!

Atelier Jupe Liv Blouse  the one with the frills

With an irresistible romantic ruffle at the neckline, Liv is a sweet blouse that will make the most out of fabrics with drape. The loose-fitting blouse shape has a V-neckline and gathered back giving this blouse a very feminine and elegant look. The long sleeves are finished with elastic at the hem, so will be very comfortable to wear. It’s asking to be made in a pretty print!

Merchant & Mills Edie Top and Dress the one with the breathtaking sleeves

If you prefer to make a simple statement, but a statement all the same, take a peek at Edie! The balloon sleeves of this simple top and dress are the only detail that Edie requires to stand out. Less is more. It looks great in light and airy linen or double gauze fabrics. The more structured the fabric the more sculptural your top will look.
