I’ve worn these trousers for about a month now and they’ve slotted seamlessly into my current wardrobe!
Likes/Dislikes
I love the cropped and tapered leg of the trousers, it also allows for the leg to be roomy and comfortable whilst maintaining a nice shape. The pockets have ample room which we all love! I also love where the waist hits on me (I’m 164cm tall) and it gave me the perfect shape. The only thing I changed in my version was taking in the waist more.
Fitting Changes
I cut out the pattern per my measurements but still found that the waist was a bit roomy, a problem I tend to have with other trousers. I ended up taking this extra fabric out of the back seam. Next time I make these, I will put two darts in where the back pockets are just to make it a little more professional but my quick fix worked a treat nonetheless.
Instructions
The instructions were really straight forward and easy to follow. Although a lot of beginner sewers can be intimidated by trousers, I’d defintiely recommend these as the construction is simple and they use fairly basic sewing techniques throughout.
Fabric
I used a very lightweight cotton in a Sand colour from Pinny & Smock (@pinnyandsmockfabrics | www.pinnyandsmock.co.uk) which worked really well and has given the trousers a really relaxed look, perfect for the summer. I also got to use up some lovely scraps for the pocket lining! For my next pair, I’d really like to try them in a heavier fabric, like a cotton twill to give them more structure.
