Sew Reporter – 15 December

We’re halfway through December and the days are just flying by.. Are you all organised? Or are you currently panic sewing all your gifts for friends and family? If you’re in panic mode (no judgement here, we’re in the same boat!) we’ve tried to make it a little bit easier for you. On the blog you can find a run down of simple sewing patterns to make for your loved ones. Nothing too tricky, so you can finish before Santa gets here!

You know what to do for your weekly dose of maker, pattern, fabric and general sewing inspiration; just make yourself a cuppa, scroll down and enjoy!

Well HELLO there! Susan from Susan Young Sewing is looking bloody fantastic in her Simple Sew Amelia tea dress!

Jasika aka Try Curious Blog is looking like a confetti party in her Stella Dress from Pattern Runway. We are really digging this pattern and fabric combination!

This is the stretch velvet party dress of dreams! Sarah aka Sew Sarah Smith blogged about her Appleton wrap dress by Cashmerette and she’s giving lots of tips for sewing with stretch velvet along the way.

We have no words other than BOOM! Manju who blogs at SewManju used McCalls 7998 to create this red satin wrap dress with fabulous  flounce and statement sleeves.

Allie who blogs at AllieJackson made the Closet Case Patterns Ginger jeans in a coated denim and nailed it!

This is the I Am Patterns Joy blouse, beautifully stitched by Holly from That’s Sew Peachy in a sheer spotty chiffon fabric. Isn’t it gorgeous!

Patsy from PatsyPoo Makes stitched the perfect jumper for this time of year! It’s Seamwork’s Astoria jumper in a cable knit jersey and it looks so cosy.

Wow, Heather Lou from Closet Case Patterns took her Sienna Maker jacket to a whole new level with this fantastic floral embroidery on the back yoke. We love how embroidery adds such a personal touch to clothes!

We think that Rebecca’s @beckymarkus Closet Case Patterns Cielo top is proof that sewing things in stretch lurex silk might just be the way forward this season!

Charlotte @isewbhm went for a festive red bamboo jersey knit to make her Named Kielo dress. Check out her pattern review to see how she got on with this pattern!

Did you know we sell gift vouchers? Perfect if you don’t know what you want to give your sewing pal or if you’ve been asked what you would like for Christmas this year. With the voucher you get to choose from hundreds of sewing patterns on our online shop, what more could anyone wish for! For more info check out our website.

Take a look at all the new fabrics, haberdashery and kits from sewing businesses this week…

If you weren’t feeling Christmassy just yet, these cottons from Fabrics Galore should get you in the mood! Last minute Christmas pyjamas anyone?

We (almost) have no words to describe how awesome this wooden tool caddy from Beyond Measure is.. It’s just so useful an what beautiful design. It’s is on our wish lists for sure!

We spotted lots of brand new fabrics over at Sew Me Sunshine, but this green viscose lawn immediately caught our eye. It would make such a gorgeous flowy dress!

This beautiful Italian viscose jacquard from Fabric Godmother is making us weak at the knees! It’s absolutely stunning.

If you think this fabric from LuLou Designs is just another normal faux fur, you’re wrong. It has two different different sides of fabulous fur and we’re obsessed with the idea of making a coatigan in this!

Pin & Sew has the most delicious cotton jersey slub in at the moment. Could this colour be any more perfect for this time of year? We think not..

What we love about these paper waist trousers from the brand new Vogue collection is that they are not too voluminous at the waist as they are fitted with darts at the back. We totally want to make these!

Aren’t these colours amazing? They're the new tencel sanded twill fabrics from Lamazi Fabrics and they look devine!

What a lovely romantic winter landscape on this cotton from Cloth & Candy. The combination of colours is beautiful and we always appreciate an abstract print.

The Draper's Daughter is stocking this pretty stretch Indigo from the Chambray Union Collection by Robert Kaufman. It is beautifully soft, drapey, lightweight and cool, it’s perfect!

December’s Sew Hayley Jane’s subscription box theme was Glitz & Glam and we could not love it more. What would January’s theme be?! Sign up now and find that out when you receive your first box on the 10th of January.

Are you a fun of Pink Coat Club’s iconic Seamstress pins? You’re in luck! The design is has had a facelift and it now comes in a black colour way!

Have a rummage through Cloth Spot’s virtual remnant box and grab yourself a bargain!

We keep a handy list of sewing events, exhibitions and meet ups happening in the sewing community all over the world on our sewing social calendar here.

Come and join our sewing Facebook group where we are chatting about sewing plans, new patterns and helping each other out with projects.
