A review of Sew Liberated Arenite Pants

I’ve wanted to make these for a while now and I’m so glad I did! Made from cotton poplin that I ice dyed myself…

I had the good fortune of reading a friends instagram post the morning before I started making these and as such I was able to make adjustments to the pattern in 3 key areas so that they fit me… I’m 5 ft 11 with an inside leg of 34″, the pattern is made for an inside leg of 29.5″.

The adjustments I made to fit my body are as follows –

Dropped the crotch seam 2″ (In hindsight for everyday wear probably only needed to be about 1″ each side here but these are pj’s and I like space when I sleep!). This depends entirely on where you’re going to have your waistband to… mine is just below my bely button but if you’re going to wear these on your hips you won’t need to move things as much.

Added a new lengthening line to all three pieces (front, back & side)… just bellow the pocket notch, and added 2.5″ here. This is found was actually crucial to the trousers fitting me so that when I bent my knee the seams weren’t too tight.

Added 2″ of length on the patterns recommended lengthening line.
