The Trapeze – Merchant & Mills

A review of Merchant & Mills Trapeze Dress

This dress is magic. Seriously. It feels fitted around the shoulders and bust, and yet there are no darts, and I can pull it on over my head with ease. Wearing it I feel classy and elegant, and yet casual and relaxed. I absolutely love it – my new favourite pattern.
I used a linen/viscose blend fabric which drapes nicely and made a straight size 14 with no adjustments other than to the length – I cut 8cm off the bottom then hemmed 1cm using 12mm bias binding. I’ve never done this with hemming before, and I think it worked well with the curved hem. I hand-stitched the lower hem and the sleeves too, so you can tell how much I love it! There are no pockets, and I think next time I might add in-seam pockets.
I think others have found the facing tricky, but this is only with the sleeveless version, I think. Sleeved versions have normal neck facings.
