Such a Fan of Helen’s Closet

I’m a huge fan of Helen’s work. Her pattern drafting is so clean, and her instructions are absolute perfection. Everything I make is hassle free.

I made a muslin out of scraps from leggings. It fit my 57 year old body well straight out of the package. Just for personal preference, I shortened the straps about 1/2 inch, and shortened the tongue of the front by another half inch, just to hold my DDD boobs a little higher and tighter.

I swim on a team, so I need a suit that performs. My suit can’t catch air on a flip turn or fall off when I dive. With Sandpiper’s high neck and full bottom, this suit is a DREAM COME TRUE. I feel fast and secure in the water.

I also need to be able to get a suit on and off! This one works. It strikes a perfect balance between negative ease and maneuverability.

I’m making mix and match pieces from Blackbird Fabrics in watermelon rind, caper, and black. I lined the tops with power mesh (once again for support) and the bottoms with regular swimsuit lining.

I couldn’t find 1/4 inch swim elastic so I used 3/8. Worked fine.
