Shorts are ok for PJs but not going out

The instructions for the shorts were fairly well explained, although I got a bit confused about the curved facing/trim. It covers the bottom inch  of the main fabric, so that’s why you only need one set of facings. Definitely get your edge stitching foot out for these, there’s a few places where the topstitching is really obvious!  I didn’t make the robe (or haven’t yet!)

Sizing: had a hard time deciding on the size. Based on the measurements (hip/top of shorts 34”, butt ~43”) I’d need an XL, but after making a toile of XL and L both were too big. I ended up making a size M, which is a little tight, so next time I’ll grade between L and M.

I don’t love the way the back part of the shorts hangs down/poufs out, I wish there was more contouring to bring the leg of the back short in closer to the body. Alas, these will be find for inside wear (too revealing for wearing outside!)

Made with two lightweight cotton fabrics from Mood:

  • Light blue print fabric: Mood #310780, Gray/Blue/Purple Floral Cotton Poplin
  • Solid blue fabric: Mood #311978, French Blue 100% Pima Cotton Broadcloth
