Perfect joggers

A review of Bella Loves Patterns Luna Joggers

I chose this pattern because the joggers sit on the waist – most of the current patterns seem to sit round the hip, which is much less flattering on me.  I made a straight size 14 in a fairly heavy weight scuba which I got from N Rosenberg and Son at the first post-lockdown Stitch Festival. I made them without the cuff and didn’t bother with the front crease, and ended up with exactly what I’d wanted.

The instructions are good. I found the pocket instructions a bit of a faff the first time I made these, and it’s tempting to skip some of the detail,  but the more I make them (4 pairs so far, not all for me!) the more each individual step makes sense. I’m 5 ft 4 and the length is fine, but an extra inch on the legs would probably be better.

I was a bit nervous that the scuba might be too heavy but it’s brilliant.  I’ve also made them in a stretch panne velvet, which has a much drapier effect and looks very glamorous, and a French Terry, which was fine weight wise, but didn’t have elastene/lycra so they unfortunately tend to bag at the knees quite quickly.

The top in the photo is the Sew House 7 Toaster pattern – I didn’t originally plan to wear them together but I got so much positive feedback it’s now my go to cycling outfit for cooler weather!
