Penny Dress – Sew Over It

The Penny was a summer release from the Sew Over It PDF club. As soon as I saw it I thought, yes I want to make it. The sizing of the pattern is good which is what I expect from SOI patterns. It is important to take note of the notches as there are important ones to create the button placket. The full circle skirt gives a beautiful elegance to the pattern. One issue that I have with the pattern is the length of the bodice. The waist line sits almost as an empire waistline and the elastic can become a little uncomfortable. I have lengthened the bodice by 4cm in subsequent makes. The gathering along the shoulders gives a comfortable shape that is a little different than bust darts. Overall, this pattern has not failed to live up to my expectations.
