Neon and neutral sherpa hoodie

A review of Pattern Scout Cozi Jacket

I did a combo of View A and B, because I wanted a hoodie with the elasticized waist. The contrast pieces were either scraps or thrifted materials; the neon yellow zipper and pocket came from a hoodie I disassembled for parts, while the 2-tone zipper came from a torn child’s raincoat that a friend was going to toss because of the tears ruining the waterproofing.

I used Birch Fabric’s organic cotton sherpa, which maybe has been discontinued? I got it from Fabricworm. It was very hard to work with on my machine, and I recommend using a walking foot with this type of fabric, which made it slightly easier. It took a loooong time for such a simple project just because my machine couldn’t handle sherpa!

The pattern itself was super clear and had good illustrations…my only tiny gripe is that I wish there were some tips on working with sherpa fabric, since the designer made a few samples using it. Sherpa doesn’t act the same as other fabrics, and since this pattern is for wovens and knits alike, some sidebar tips on sewing with super-thick knits would have really helped me!

Modifications
-cropped body length
-added a chest pocket
-added contrast neon elements
