I’m usually pretty good at choosing patterns that work for me. But I had to make loads of changes to achieve something I’m able to wear.
This pattern is huge and the fit is nothing like the image. I measure size 18 and from experience made size 14. Admittedly I used jersy, but it is on the list of suggested fabrics.
Before I strarted I reduced the width of the skirt sections so they’d fit across the width of my fabric. This means I’ve reduced the amount of gathers, focussing them under the bust and away from the centre. The neck opening is extremely low, so rather than using the shaped neck band I used the fabric characteristics to cut a stretch band overlapping it at the front. This helped pull in the neck and make it less revealing.
The armholes are huge and to achieve a good fit I restitched the side seam above the ‘waist’ seam, taking in 2” on both sides.
