Joyous Joanie!

A review of Sew Liberated Joanie Top

Joanie is a really lovely pattern with a few different options that can be combined to make quite a few different versions of the top. I essentially made view A, but with the shawl collar from view B.

I always find shirts to be satisfying sewing projects and Joanie was no exception. The instructions are excellent, with plenty of detail and clear diagrams to help you with the sewing process.

I found the sizing to be good too – I made the size recommended for my current body measurements (and lengthened the top, which is a very standard adjustment for me) and it turned out nicely. It’s a comfortable fit as the pattern intends, but still with some shaping thanks to the bust dart and back princess seams.

The fabric I used is a crisp cotton, which worked well for this version.
