This has become one of my favourite woven top patterns. I came across this whilst drooling over the merchant and mills linens, I hadn’t seen it before.
The style is fun and comfortable. The shoulders are dropped and have a small dart in the back shoulder that helps the fit. The neck line and button band are my favourite part, it has a bias strip that is encased in the button band and is all sewn at the same time, the instructions for this are superb and its a really satisfying sew and finish.
The fit is great on me, I’ve cut a straight size 18 and the only modifications I’ve done is added 1.5 inches to the length of the peplum. As the shape of the top flares out I didn’t need a FBA for my D cups and there was still plenty of room.
I really recommend this pattern I’ve made 3 top versions and dress.
BEWARE – the pattern says to reinforce the curved waist seam, do not avoid this step, it will keep the shape when you add the peplum and stop it stretching out.
