Breezy summer dress

A review of Fibre Mood Rosalie Dress

Reviewed by Sewrendipity on 17th June, 2020

Pattern Description: Rosalie is a baby doll summer dress, with a v-neckline and flounce sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: XS-XL

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. To note that Fibre Mood patterns come in Magazine and digital (PDF) formats. The magazine only has diagrams, but instructions with diagrams and words can be found for free on the Fibre Mood website.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is not a kind of dress that I usually go for, but somehow it spoke to me. I think it’s the babydoll shape.

Fabric Used: Cotton poplin shirting

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No changes, but here is a list of what I would change next time.
I cut a size S, but next time I would cut an XS with no SA. It’s massively oversized. I also need to make a forward shoulder adjustment, as it’s pulling towards the back significantly. This also causes the front hemline to ride upwards. I have this problem with all FM patterns, but I haven’t seen this with other people. Maybe just me.
For the record, my measurements are:

Hips: 101 cm (39.5in)
Waist: 72 cm (28.5in)
Bust 88cm (34.5in)
Height: 1.72m/5.7in

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I have already made a Rosalie + Mira mash-up, using the Rosalie top, as well as a Rosalie top with long sleeves.

Conclusion: It’s a great little breezy dress for the summer. I have seen some awesome versions in double gauze or seersucker that just scream ‘summer’.
