A review of Trend Patterns TPC17 Drape Hem Skirt

This was a great pattern, and made up into a super-interesting skirt which in the plaid I used gave a kind of Vivienne Westwood vibe. It is a basic pencil skirt at the top with darts in the front and back with a waistband and an invisible zipper. The back is a normal pencil skirt and the ingenious front drape is an l-shaped piece which connects to the lower side of the back, along the angled front, and down the lower side seam of the other side of the back. I lined the upper skirt, and the back piece and not the drape panel. It was a little difficult getting the front drape piece to match up, and this company’s patterns assume a certain level of dressmaking knowledge. However, I hadn’t sewed a skirt in 20 years, and have never been an expert sexist (though I’m getting better!) and I managed it. I love TPC for their very fashion-forward designs and I had a LOT of complements on this skirt. I am planning to make it again in a fuchsia wool twill, as this was a wearable toile. I made a size 12UK based on my measurements, but I will grade to 14 in the seat next time. I definitely recommend!
