A sparkly linen Oia

A review of Itch to Stitch Oia Dress

The Oia dress is a really interesting and different dress pattern. The details: it has lovely wide straps and a very pretty back, a fitted bodice, A-line skirt, invisible zipper and is fully lined. It also has grommets and a lace up details at the front. I have to admit- although I like this detail you can definitely make the dress without the grommets (when I first saw it I thought I’d prefer it without them in, although they have grown on me!). Oh and the pattern has cup sizes!

I made a size 0 A cup grading to between a 2-4 at the waist and 4 at the hip, although I had to take the whole bodice in a little at the side seams. It’s a pretty involved pattern- lots of details- and my first time lining a dress (which gives a super-luxe feeling to it!). However the instructions are very good and it’s broken down into many steps so felt very achievable.

I used a lovely sparkly linen from Fabric Godmother and lined in cotton lawn. I love the fit of this dress- I definitely want to make a winter version to wear as a pinafore (in needlecord….) but will omit the grommets from that!
