Lovely style, a little fiddly in places.

I made this top in a lightweight tencel and love how the puffed sleeves lend themselves to a drapey fabric, tempted to make another in a more structured fabric for more volume and also because the neckline would look nice with this. I would also make it a little longer next time as it tends to untuck itself.

The instructions are very clear and comprehensive, but I found the gathered cuffs a little fiddly and got a bit confused with the notches around the sleeves and when attaching the back over the front - there seemed to be too many notches, none of which lined up. I muddled through and really pleased with the result!

It has that something

Made myself one in size L without any alterations from TAL’s combed wool fabric. Very well drafted pattern pieces, nicely designed, clear instructions. Not super happy with the fit, though. The shirt looks a bit cropped and the neckline is a tad too wide and high to rest properly on my shoulders. The sleeves are lovely, but I had to redo the cuffs, because the instructions left me with a bulky seam over double-folded elastic (most likely my misinterpretation). The fit is worse on the back as the neckline hangs quite low and there’s too much fabric below the shoulder blades. Edit: upgraded my review, I got excellent customer service from the Assembly Line who kindly sent me a more detailed diagram of how to insert the elastic and sew in the cuffs. Super!

Flattering fit and excellent instructions

I made this in a lightweight cotton to see how it would fit. I made a size small, I am a petite size 8/10 so I shortened the sleeves about 3cm and expanded the back across the shoulders as I would normally for an over-the-head top or dress. The fit was excellent (probably didn’t need to expand the back) and it is very flattering with the neck line, sleeve design and length. My only complaint would be the cuffs do not sit well with my watch. The next one I am making (in a satin) will have the sleeve shortened only by 1.5cm and an elastic of 2.5cm width.
The instructions and diagrams are of excellent quality and clarity I would definitely recommend it and I am planning to get more of these patterns.
