Milenda Dress review

This was a good pattern to start my return to sewing after a 20 year gap. I went down a size to a size 10.
The instructions are extremely clear with photographs.
I often find dresses can gap at the neck so I was able to prevent this by slightly increasing the amount to fabric taken in towards the neck line. The loss of a centimetre at the neck line can make a huge difference to the fit.

Milenda linen dress

This is a loose fitting summer dress with pleat details front and back providing shaping to the bodice. I cut the pattern exactly to my measurements and found the shoulders to be very wide so I took 2.5 cm off each side which has resulted in a really good fit. (I note several other makers have found the shoulders wide too so measure carefully) The instructions are excellent , clearly worded with very good photo illustrations. I used an inky blue pure mid weight linen from Etsy shop Linengraphy.
