Buy the Lois Dress sewing pattern from Tessuti Fabrics. This vintage-inspired dress features a v-neck bodice and a floaty, A-line skirt that falls to midi length. Finishing features include cuffed arm bands, a top-stitch detail around the neckline and waist, and an invisible side zipper.
This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following format:

Suggested fabrics: Silk satin or crepe de chine, viscose and rayon. Lois can also be made in linen, but you will need to bind the sleeves in the same way as you bind the neckline (rather than using the cuffed arm bands).
Fabric requirements: 140 cm wide fabric: 1.75 - 2.20 m.
Sizing: AUS 6 – 16 (approx. UK 8/10 – 18, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: 20 cm invisible zipper; 30 cm of tear-away Vilene.

The Lois dress is a simple v neck dress with a slight empire shape and a midi length finish.
The pattern instructions are comprehensive and well thought through for a beginner. There are lots of accompanying photos to help you along each step. The only challenge I came across was when inserting the zip. The side seams for the skirt are towards the back and the zip is inserted within a seam. This does cause issues if you need to resize and it’s not just a simple taking on of the side seams.
Overall, I really love the fit of the dress. Even with the v neck it’s not too low to make me feel conscious and it’s actually quite roomy at the waist. This will help to keep cool in the warmer months. The midi length is just perfect and I didn’t need to adjust that. I’m 1.72m and it comes to mid way on my shin.
