Buy the Avenue Shorts sewing pattern from Syd Graham Patterns. The Avenue Shorts feature a moderately high rise, an elastic waistband, and a subtle A-line silhouette that flares slightly through the legs for an easy, breezy fit with a touch of volume. Suggested fabrics: The Avenue Shorts can be made in a variety of fabrics depending on the look you're going for. Woven fabrics in the 3-8 oz range are a great place to start. Lightweight to midweight cottons, linens, and similar wovens will give you a nice balance of structure and drape.

You can also experiment with less traditional options, like ripstop nylon for a more outdoorsy feel, or sweatshirt fleece or French terry for lounge shorts.

Fabric requirements: These requirements do not account for directional fabric, pattern matching, or fabric shrinkage. The requirements include in-seam and back pockets, but do not account for a ruffle hem. Add an extra 1/4 yd (23 cm) if making a ruffle hem.

60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 7/8 - 1 5/8 yd (80 - 150 cm).

54" (135 cm) wide fabric: 7/8 - 1 7/8 yd (80 - 175 cm).

44" (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/8 - 2 3/8 yd (105 - 220 cm).

Sizing: 00 – 36 (approx. UK 4 – 38, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern was drafted for an individual who is 5'7" (170 cm).
