This was an easy project and the pattern was great. Liked that you could either print yourself or opt for the print room to do the work for you! Great price. Love them.

Fun shape - Bob Woven Pant

I’ve had these on my ‘watch lust’ For a while and when I saw this check linen viscose mix I decided to go for it.

They come up big. I had to alter waistband and elastic to get them to fit. They are meant to be loose and will be great on hot days. There is quite a lot of fabric gathered up in the waistband  I think next time I would consider a flat front and gathered back.

I was surprised that the grain line- obvious on a check isn’t vertical. They look twisted. Im sure it won’t bother me when I’m wearing them.

I also modified the pockets to be slash pockets rather than in seam - as suggested by sewinglikemad. Her detailed review was very helpful. Thank you.

minimal instructions in tiny tiny font.

These pants are great - but Style Arc's instructions are very very minimal and they are written in tiny font - maybe 4 point.   They give sewers the opposite of the sort of detail that is provided by designers such as Sew DIY or Itch to Stitch.

I love these pants!

I’ve been a long time admirer of the Style Arc Bob pants. They’ve caught my eye as they pop up on Instagram time and time again, looking so comfortable. There are lots of these patterns available – elastic waist, loose fit, and ideally made up in linen. I eventually opted for the Bobs - and have not regretted it. I love them and have barely taken them off.

Style Arc are known for having less beginner friendly instructions. But the Bobs are super simple, and I found the instructions easy to follow, combining the written descriptions with the diagrams. I really like the method for inserting the elastic – rather than making a channel and threading it through, you stretch out the elastic and zig zag it to the waistband. I love the look it gives the pants – it feels more like ready to wear. I also really like the bar tacks on the pockets to keep them to the front, and to help with the stress of pocket use.

In terms of sizing, I wasn’t sure how the trousers would fit, or what size to do. My measurements of 33inch waist and 40 hip place me in a size 16 waist, but my hip is two sizes smaller. They’re really roomy with lots of ease, and so I opted to go for the size 14, with the elastic cut 1inch longer than recommended for the size 14. It’s worked out really well, the fit is great.

The trousers are perfect for my lifestyle – working at home or mummy daughter days, and for staying home or going for a walk. I’ve been really surprised that the linen has kept me warm while outdoors even in sub zero temperatures!

I've written a full blog post on these with more photos of you'd like to know more.

Double Gauze Bob’s

I bought the size 10 which luckily fit without any alterations. Very minimal instructions but it’s a super simple pattern. The drafting definitely shines in this one. What a unique shape, I love it! More at www.themindfulsewist.com
