Sew Dainty
Easy tiered dress

I admit that I probably have too many tiered dress patterns, but this one is so sweet that I couldn't resist another.

I love the gentle gathers around the shoulder seam of the neckline, the binding finish of the neckline and sleeves, the dropped shoulder 3/4 length sleeves and of course the pockets!

The sleeves are just perfect. Puffed, but not so much that you are getting them caught in every door handle you pass.

It's easy to sew, but not quick as there are lots of pattern pieces for this dress. However I really enjoyed the slow process - I need to remind myself to really enjoy the sewing process, rather than rushing through it to get to the end result quickly - and this project did just that.

It is rated as an easy sew by Simplicity and I would agree with that, especially as there are no tricky fastenings. It is an 'over the head' dress with a keyhole opening at the centre back neckline (which I don't need to use as I find it still slips over my head with the button and loop fastened).

It also comes with a children's size pattern too, sizes 3-8, so you can match your darling little one if you so wish.

I made my dress in a viscose which was perfect imo, as the drape that you get from this flowy fabric is wonderful on those gathered tiers. Simplicity mention cotton, cotton blends, lightweight corduroys, linen and rayon in their fabric recommendations.

All in all a great pattern which I'm sure I will sew again. and you can follow all my sewing adventures on Instagram here
