Buy the Simplicity S8927 top and skirt pattern, it’s perfect for an advanced beginner/intermediate dressmaker. Mimi G close-fitting tie-front crop top, buttons at front. Slim-fitting skirt in two lengths buttons at side front.

Suggested fabrics: Chambray, cotton types, lightweight denim, linen types, shirtings. A,B also in silky types. B,D in lengthwise-striped fabrics.
Note: Extra fabric maybe needed to match plaids, stripes, one-way designs fabrics or shrinkage.
Sizing: H5 (6-8-10-12-14) U5 (16-18-20-22-24), approx. UK sizes H5 (4 – 8), U5 (10– 18/20). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

I had fun with stripes on this one, trying for them to draw the eye to my “waist” but I think I came closer to channeling Ginger Spice in her Union Jack dress from ‘97 ?
The top and skirt work perfectly to expose only that part of my mum tum that has slim to no chance of rolling
I cut straight size 10 and it all fit ok but pattern pieces on my version had an error and the waistband didn’t match so I had to re-cut it. Other than that very satisfying make.
