Sewing Therapy Faux Collar Shirt and Dress

Buy the Faux Collar Shirt and Dress sewing pattern from Sewing Therapy. This pattern gives the appearance of a formal collared shirt or dress thanks to a faux collar which is attached to the front panels only. It has an oversized fit with a dropped shoulder for a relaxed and roomy silhouette, and features a button front, inverted pleat at the back, side slits, and sleeves with roll-up tabs. The shirt has two length options: one cropped and one for tucking in.

Bonus: The pattern includes a free long sleeve add-on which can be used to make a coat version (print-at-home only).

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces are divided across two A0 sheets. The sheets will need to be joined with no overlap. The print out will not include the bonus long sleeve piece as this is print-at-home only.

Suggested fabrics: Lightweight cottons, linen and linen blends, tencel or rayon, wool or flannel, chambray or denim, double gauze. 

Fabric requirements: 

Cropped/tucked shirt: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 2.5 yd (1.4 - 2.3 m).

Dress: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 3.5 yd (2.3 - 3.2 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 24 (approx. UK 6 – 24/26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The cropped shirt is designed to reach the belly button, the tucked shirt is designed to be easily tucked in, and the dress is designed to reach the calf on someone who is 5'4" (163 cm) tall.

Notions: Buttons, 4 for the cropped shirt, 5 for the tucked shirt, 8-10 for the dress // Optional: 2 buttons for the sleeve tabs; lightweight interfacing.
