Buy the Songbird Skirt and Tank Top sewing pattern from Sew Liberated. The quintessential bohemian set, Songbird is a breezy and easy sew with endless styling possibilities. Don it while writing melancholic lyrics, twirling along the beach to music in your own head, or dancing at a summer festival.

The skirt features romantic tiers, deep inset pockets, and a comfortable and easy to fit elastic waistband. The tank top has a centre front gather for a subtle sweetheart neckline, built in shelf bra, and easy to customise straps.

Suggested fabrics:

Top (knit fabric): Cotton jersey spandex or other mid-weight knit fabric with at least 40% stretch and good recovery. Rib knits are not recommended. For a flowier top with less support, knit fabric with rayon or bamboo content, in addition to spandex. Suggested weight is 5.8-8.9 oz. (198-300 gsm).

Skirt (woven fabric): Sandwashed linen or cotton, poplin, voile, chambray, viscose-linen slub, challis, or silk noil. Choose a light- to medium-weight woven fabric with no stretch. Softer fabrics will fall more gently, and more stable fabrics like linen and cotton will emphasise the gathers and A-line shape. For View B, choose a stable fabric to make sewing the tucks and lace insets easier. Suggested weight is 4-6 oz. (135-240 gsm).

Fabric requirements:

Top: 58" (147 cm) wide fabric: Tank length, 1.4 - 2.6 yd (1.3 - 2.3 m) // Crop length, 1.2 - 2 yd (1.1 - 1.9 m).

Skirt: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: View A, 3 - 4 yd (2.75 - 3.7 m) / View B, 3.5 - 4.5 yd (3.1 - 4.2 m) // 45" (114 cm) wide fabric (horizontal layout only; select prints carefully): View A, 3.2 - 4 yd (3 - 3.7 m) / View B, 4.25 - 4.6 yd (4 - 4.3 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6/8 – 32/34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

The pattern is drafted for a height of 5’5″ (165 cm) and a dressmaker's cup size C.
