Suggested fabrics: Light- to medium-weight woven fabric that has no stretch. The drape or hand of the fabric will impact the look of the final garment - softer fabrics will fall more gently, and more stable fabrics will emphasise the leg shaping. Some wonderful choices are chambray, viscose-linen slub, sandwashed linen or cotton, ikat, Brussels washer linen, light twill (like Ventana twill), or Essex cotton-linen blend. Recommended fabrics are opaque and range in weight from 4.8 oz to 7.9 oz (155-268 gsm).

Fabric requirements:

View A: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric*: 3 - 4 yd (2.9 - 3.7 m) // 54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 3.25 yd (2.9 - 3 m).

View B: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric*: 2.75 - 3 yd (2.6 - 2.9 m) // 54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 2.75 yd (2.3 -2.6 m).

View C: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric*: 1.5 - 1.8 yd (1.4 - 1.7 m) // 54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 2 yd (1.2 - 1.9 m).

*Sizes 12-34 for View A and sizes 18-34 for Views B and C are single layer layout only for 45" (115 cm) wide fabric.

Sizing: US 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6/8 – 32/34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

The pattern is drafted for a height of 5’5″ (165 cm).

Notions: 1/4 yd (0.25 m) of lightweight fusible interfacing, either woven or non-woven (based on width of 20"/0.5 m) or 1 yd/m of 1" wide fusible interfacing tape; 2" wide soft waistband elastic, 1 yd (0.9 m) for sizes 0-16 or 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m) for sizes 18-34 // Optional: card stock or light cardboard for pocket pressing guides.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (21-39 pages for sizes 0-24, 24-44 pages for sizes 22-34); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets for sizes 0-24, 5 sheets for sizes 22-34) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: Yes.

Nice choices. Stylish and comfortable trousers.

I was a bit dubious about the heavier than recommended fabric I chose for these but I'm very pleased with the end result. I added extra top stitching to accentuate the curves of the patch pockets.

View B is the less voluminous version in a pattern which includes two trouser views with a choice of pockets and also a pair of shorts.

Helpful and detailed notes about crotch depth are supplemented with a link to further information on line.

The instructions are firm about making a toile; a must with any new pattern, especially trousers. The back rise was very short for me. I added 6cm as I wanted the elastic to sit at my waist.

The instructions were mostly easy to follow. However, the pieces were numbered on the cutting diagram but not on the actual pattern which described the pieces instead. A cutting list for each view would be helpful. Also, the illustrations for step 1b and 1c are out of order. What is labelled 1b is 1c and vice versa.

Once all stitched in, I found the elastic waist a bit loose. Will revisit that after my holiday if I still need to.
