Sew.lala Patterns Rumi Dress and Top

Buy the Rumi Dress and Top sewing pattern from Sew.lala Patterns. Rumi is a loose-fitting design that can be sewn as a dress or top. With different lengths and hem shapes to choose from, and an optional elasticated waist, Rumi offers lots of possibilities. The pattern also includes two neckline options, one ending above the bust, and the other a bit lower. Rumi has very dropped shoulders and short sleeves, and due to the generous width in the bust is also suitable for a fuller cup. Rumi is perfect for both casual and dressy occasions depending on your choice of fabric and imagination!

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Rumi is suitable for both slightly stretchy fabrics and firm wovens. If you want a bit more structure, choose a firmer linen, poplin or similar. If you want an airy look, the designer recommends flowy fabrics made of viscose, washed linen or silk in a lightweight quality. 

Fabric requirements: 1.4 m (55") wide fabric: Top, 1.5 - 2.3 m (1.7 - 2.5 yd) // Top with elastic waist, 1.5 - 2.5 m (1.7 - 2.7 yd) // Dress, 2.5 - 3.4 m (2.7 - 3.7 yd). 

If using a non-directional fabric, you may be able to cut crossgrain and significantly reduce the amount of fabric needed. For sizes 22-30, the amount can also be reduced by 40 cm if you cut the neckband from a remnant of a different fabric.

Sizing: EU 32 – 60 (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 4 cm (1.6") wide elastic (see chart).
