Ready to Sew Emile Barrel Pants

Buy the Emile Barrel Pants sewing pattern from Ready to Sew. Designed for confident beginners, Emile is an elastic waist pant that balances comfort and character. Simple to sew yet far from basic, it offers an approachable introduction to trouser-making while allowing you to create a garment with a strong identity.

With its 7/8 length, straight or barrel leg, and mid rise (size range 1) or high rise (size range 2) waist, Emile has a clean, structured silhouette. The vertical seam running along the leg defines the design, while the pockets inserted between this seam and the side seam add both function and a distinctive graphic touch.

Suggested fabrics: To achieve a structured yet comfortable finish, choose lightweight to medium weight (120-220 gsm) stable fabrics. Cotton poplin, chambray, lightweight denim or fine corduroy, linen/tencel or cotton/tencel blends. Avoid fabrics that are too fluid or slippery, such as some lightweight viscoses or very drapey tencel.

Fabric requirements:

Range 1: 145 cm wide fabric: Straight, 150 - 200 cm // Barrel, 160 - 200 cm.

Range 2: 145 cm wide fabric: Straight, 210 - 230 cm // Barrel, 210 - 240 cm.

Sizing: EU 32 – 48 and EU 48 – 64 (approx. UK 8 – 18 and UK 18 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size charts.

Notions: 3.5 cm wide flat elastic.
