Buy the Kiveton Jacket sewing pattern from Merchant & Mills. Inspired by the donkey jacket traditionally worn by coal merchants, with the addition of a detachable hood and double hip pocket. The Kiveton is endlessly practical. Make with or without a lining.

Suggested fabrics: 

Self: Wool and tweed, oilskin/dry oilskin, 9-13 oz non-stretch denim, cotton twill or canvas, corduroy.

Contrast shoulder panel: Oilskin/dry oilskin, leather, self.

Lining: Lightweight cotton, poplin, lightweight wool, slip linings. Barrier lining if using oilskin.

Sizing: XS – 3XL (approx. UK 10 – 32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 0.9 m (1 yd) of interfacing (not applicable for oilskin); four 20-22 mm (3/4") buttons for front; five 15 mm (1/2") buttons for hood; 30 cm (12") of elastic cord for hood loops; 4.9 m (5 1/2 yd) of bias binding (optional, unlined version only).
