Buy the Benchwarmer Tee sewing pattern from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. The Benchwarmer Tee is a perfectly oversized, slightly retro T-shirt. Inspired by the boxy tees of the 90s, it has a relaxed fit, dropped shoulders, and plenty of room to move. It's comfy, casual, and designed to be the kind of tee you reach for over and over again.

Choose between short or long sleeves to make it work for any season. Wear it on its own, layer it up, or make a few for an easy everyday rotation.

Designed for knit fabrics, it can be sewn entirely on an overlocker or with a zigzag stitch on your regular sewing machine. Either way, it comes together surprisingly fast, making it a great first knit project or a satisfying quick sew whenever you feel like making something fun.

Suggested fabrics: Choose a knit or jersey fabric with at least 20% crosswise stretch and good recovery. The oversized fit means you don’t need a super stretchy fabric for the body, but a little stretch is important for getting a nice, comfortable fit around the neckband.

Fabric requirements: Natural fibre knits can shrink significantly. The designer recommends purchasing 0.5 yd/m extra and prewashing the fabric using the same method you plan to use for the finished garment.

Short sleeve: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 1.75 - 2.5 yd (1.6 - 2.3 m).

Long sleeve: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 1.75 - 3 yd (1.6 - 2.8 m)

Sizing: XXS – 6XL (approx. UK 6 – 38, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.
