Great summer tunic dress

This was an easy pattern to make. I used a pink linen purchased from Merchant & Mills in Rye.
The pattern is definitely based on a B cup - for those with a D cup or over, the pattern could be a little tight.
I did not have an over-locker at the time and wanted a clean finish to the inside of the dress, so I chose to use a flat felled seam on the side seams and sleeves and as a result decided to put pockets on the tunic dress front.
I shortened the sleeves to get a more 'summer-dress' effect and decided not have a collar, instead finished the neck with a bias strip of fabric. I wanted the placket front to close and put in two button holes.

Gallery Tunic and Dress review

After reading many reviews on this pattern, I decided to size down from my usual size of 20 . I am 5' 11" with a bust of 47" and I made a size 16. I definitely could have sized down another size to create a more fitted tunic. The more drape the fabric has the better the tunic will look. The instructions were easy to follow and I will definitely be making more. Works great as a travel tunic!

Gallery tunic and dress

I’ve made this pattern three times at dress length, tunic length, and now a self drafted shirt length. The instructions are very clear, and it’s a good first shirt pattern as there is no button placket. Although there is a lot of ease in the pattern, adding a belt gives it a nice shape. Highly recommended!
