Buy the Elwood Dress sewing pattern from In the Folds. This midi length dress is all about sophisticated comfort. Sweeping panel lines and additional ease in the waist and hips create a fun and interesting silhouette. Note if purchasing copy shop printing: The pattern will show both the cutting lines (in black) and stitching lines (in pale grey).
Suggested fabrics: Mid-weight woven fabrics such as linen, linen blends, cotton poplin, shirting and chambray. Lightweight fabrics are also suitable, but will create a softer and more relaxed silhouette. For a softer silhouette, consider sateen, silk (crepe de chine or habotai), double gauze or viscose (rayon). Be careful if you are a beginner though, as these fabrics are a little trickier to sew.

Sizes A – J
View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 4 - 5.2 m (4.4 - 5.7 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.7 - 4 m (3 - 4.4 yd).
View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 3.2 - 4.2 m (3.5 - 4.6 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.6 - 3.4 m (2.9 - 3.7 yd).
Sizes G – P
View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 4.4 - 5.6 m (4.9 - 6.2 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 3.4 - 4.2 m (3.8 - 4.6 yd).
View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 3.3 - 4.3 m (3.7 - 4.8 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 2.7 - 3.2 m (3 - 3.5 yd).
Sizing: A – J and G – P (approx. UK 6 – 26/28 and UK 18/20 – 44, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size charts and finished garment measurements.
This pattern is available in two size brackets: sizes A-J and sizes G-P. The sizes A-J pattern has been drafted for a B cup bust (5 cm/2" difference between high bust and full bust measurements). The sizes G-P pattern has been drafted for a D cup bust (10 cm/4" difference between high bust and full bust measurements).
If your measurements are in the overlap section of the size charts (G-J), the designer suggests using the G-P pattern to achieve the best fit.
This pattern has been drafted for a height of 170 cm (5'7"). Use the LENGTHEN/SHORTEN lines on the pattern to make alterations to the length.
Notions: Small strip of lightweight iron-on interfacing, approx. 3 cm x 20 cm (1 1/4" x 8"); up to 2.7 m (3 yd) of pre-made or homemade bias binding depending on size and view.
