LARK TEE - Grainline Studio

This season I cannot seem to get enough of stretch fabric.

I want it all: jersey, scuba, ponte roma, you name it. If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed all my latest makes are of the stretchy variety and all my previous fears of this fabric seem to have vanished!

Pattern

For my latest stretchy make I decided to sew up The Grainline Studio 'Lark Tee' pattern that I bought as part of a kit in the Summer Capsule Wardrobe collection from Guthrie & Ghani a few months ago.

I have made two versions so far but can see many more popping up in my wardrobe in the not too distant future! I made a 3/4 length sleeve, scoop neck first then a boat neck version with the same sleeve length second.
The fabric suggestions on the envelope are light to medium weight jersey knits that have a minimum of 20% stretch. There are no fastenings so it needs to pull on and off easily over your head for all variations.

The maroon loopback jersey I used for my first version is really lovely, this fabric is soo soft and comfy. (NOTE: There are loads of colours still in stock on the Guthrie & Ghani website!) It washed really well and irons easily, however, it may be prone to stretching. I used the seam tape interfacing enclosed in the kit on the back shoulder seams which helped here but I must have stretched the armhole when I was sewing the sleeves in. This was noticeable as when I tried it on - the armhole is bumpy and there are puckers in the sleeve head fabric. I also realised this fabric is actually quite weighty and I think when sewing the armhole together, the pieces may have been draped over the table edge and the weight of it stretched it in this way.
