Friday Pattern Company Flâneur Pants

Buy the Flâneur Pants sewing pattern from Friday Pattern Company. Flâneur is a wide leg, mid-rise pant perfect for all your adventures – whether strolling through the countryside or exploring a new city. The pants feature a zip fly with a flat front and elasticated back. They do not have a side seam making them easier to cut and sew as well as great for sewing in prints! Store your treasures in patch pockets on the sides and back. The fit is comfortable and flexible. Size up for a relaxed, slightly oversized pant, or size down for a more fitted pant.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: One of the pattern pieces has been split (to fit on the A0 sheet) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: The Flâneur Pants are designed for mid-heavy bottom weight woven fabrics. Your fabric choice will have a big effect on the look of your pants. For a structured workwear look, choose a fabric like a cotton canvas, denim, or twill. For a lighter feel you could opt for a 6-8 oz. linen, suiting, or rayon twill.

Fabric requirements: You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat.

45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 3.2 yd (2.3 - 2.9 m).

54-60" (137-153 cm) wide fabric: 2.1 - 2.6 yd (1.9 - 2.4 m).

Sizing: XS – 7X (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The pattern was drafted using sample measurements for a height of 5'6" (168 cm).

Photoshoot samples:

Size XS sewn in a 6 oz. cotton/silk blend. This model was between sizes XS and S, so the designer sewed an XS for a more fitted look.

Size L sewn in a 6.5 oz. cotton/linen blend. This model was between sizes M and L, and the designer sized up to a L for a looser fit.

Size 2X sewn in a 10 oz. denim. This model was smack dab in the middle of size 2X, so the designer made this size with no adjustments.

Notions: One 3/4" (1.9 cm) button; one 6-8" (15-20 cm) zipper for fly; 3/4 yd (0.7 m) of 1.5" (3.8 cm) wide elastic; 1/8 yd (0.1 m) of fusible interfacing // Optional: topstitching thread.
